Between ice and waves – encounters with the forces of the sea
Cold and movement – two opposites that have fascinated me for a long time. Before Greenland, I experienced ice: monumental, silent and with an almost supernatural presence. Every iceberg has its own story, shaped by time, wind and light. They drift silently through the sea, as if embodying silence itself.
The coasts of Europe are completely different – where waves crash against rocks and beaches with tireless force. Dynamism, rhythm, energy. Here, the sea is loud, lively, full of movement.
Between these two extremes – the tranquillity of the ice and the turbulence of the water – lies, for me, the essence of the sea as a force of nature. This gallery shows images that were taken between these two poles: snapshots of form, power and transience.
