In the realm of green mist – forest photography on La Palma and La Gomera
Two weeks among mist, moss and ancient trees – one on La Palma, one on La Gomera. I was travelling to feel the quiet heartbeat of the laurel forests and capture it photographically. These forests, remnants of a bygone era, seem to carry the breath of the earth itself within them.
Often, the light was little more than a fleeting glimmer lost in the mist. Sounds were swallowed by the damp moss, the air heavy with the scent of earth and life. In these moments, photography felt less like documentation and more like a dialogue – between me, the light and the silence.
This gallery is my attempt to capture something of this atmosphere – the quiet shimmer of the mist, the rhythmic play of shadows, the timeless tranquillity of these forests. La Palma and La Gomera share a soul, and yet each island tells its own story – in shapes, colours and the whispering of leaves.
